Finding the perfect spot for engagement photos is just as important as wedding photos. There are so many things that I have learned and hope to educate my brides on that will result in them feeling 100% comfortable while also getting gorgeous photos. For all of my couples, I highly suggest choosing locations that have meaning to you as a couple. When you are in familiar surroundings, you most likely will be more comfortable in front of the camera.
For this couple, they told me that they really love the city of Birmingham, so I was really happy when they told me which locations they decided for their engagement photos. Kendyll and Dakota chose 2 locations that really show the beauty of this city. The Florentine Building and Southside Baptist Church were truly the perfect spots to get the classy and timeless engagement photos that they wanted.
First, we started the day off at Southside Baptist Church to get some more casual photos of them with the gorgeous marbled church steps. I love that the decided to do both casual and fancy outfits! I took some photos on color film, and then I decided to use a roll of black and white film to give them that vintage, classic aesthetic that they were going for with this session. I love how timeless they turned out!
When we were done with that venue, we drove a couple minutes down the street to the incredible building, The Florentine! Deemed “Birmingham’s most beautiful building”, The Florentine cannot disappoint for wedding and engagment photos alike.
Before we took some photos in front of the building itself, Kendyll and Dakota wanted some action shots. So, we then did some shots of them running across the street (don’t you worry, the road was shut down – it was safe!!). I love how care-free and fun these shots turned out for Kendyll and Dakota’s engagement session. It really shows the fun personalities these two have!
To end the session, I used some more color film to really capture the intricate details of The Florentine building. I love how the vintage green marble combined with the creamy stone walls create the perfect calm, yet upscale feeling to any photos. Below are some incredible details about this venue if you are looking to book them for your wedding!
