The Barn at Shady Lane is simply one of Birmingham’s most incredible venues for so many reasons, and I am certain that any bride can see her dream wedding come to life at this venue.

WHAT MAKES THE BARN AT SHADY LANE SO GREAT?

I am so glad you asked. There are so many wonderful things to say about The Barn at Shady Lane that it would take ages to go over them all with you. For now, I will focus on 5 main points that stand out about this venue below.

1. Top-notch staff

If you want to get married at a venue where the staff treats you like royalty, is extremely accommodating and kind, and is there to make sure your wedding dreams come true, then The Barn at Shady Lane is the way to go. Michael and Linda Adler have won the couple’s choice award for 4 consecutive years for good reason. The way that they minister to couple’s and are there hands on to serve for your wedding day is simply incredible.

2. The Barn

Of course, I can’t get by without chatting about the “main event” of this Birmingham wedding venue. The Barn itself is incredible as it can host up to 300 guests, including a bride’s loft, an off-to-the-side bar area for your reception, and is fully air conditioned! This is great news for weddings in the summer when you need to go inside to cool off from the Alabama heat and humidity. Also, they recently painted the inside of the barn white which is great news for getting more natural lighting for all of your wedding photos!

3. Photography opportunities

While the Barn on the property is absolutely stunning for ceremony and receptions, you might be wondering where portraits will be taken on your wedding day. The entire property of The Barn at Shady Lane is absolutely stunning. There are incredible outdoor locations that are natural and look great no matter the weather or season. Everything is a short walking distance away from the barn, which makes it convenient on your wedding day to get where you need to be.

4. Outdoor ceremony option

If you have dreamed of having an outdoor wedding, but still want the reception to be indoors, then The Barn at Shady Lane is the perfect place for you. They have an onsite, stone walkway that leads to a beautiful spot for your outdoor wedding ceremony. Whether you choose to leave it in its natural element, or if you want to spice things up with immaculate florals on the outdoor altar, this is definitely a beautiful wedding venue that will make your dreams come true.

5. Convenient Rentals

If you are hosting an indoor or outdoor wedding, you probably are going to need to rent pews or chairs. The Barn at Shady Lane makes it easy and convenient for you to rent either/or for your wedding! No need to hire an outside vendor for props if all you need are those things. While you might need to hire a vendor for renting linens, you can rent the chairs or pews, along with many other things, directly from The Barn at Shady Lane at an unbeatable price.

1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT SEEING HOW BRIDE’S USE THE BARN AT SHADY LANE?

We love being able to tell a bride that Shady Lane is their canvas BUT if they don’t do a thing, it is still truly a captivating place. Soooo … they can make their day formal or casual.

2. WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE DON’T REALIZE ABOUT THE VENUE THAT YOU WISH THEY KNEW?

The ONLY resemblance to a barn at Shady Lane is the word “barn” in our title. And if you knew Linda Adler you would know that she just laughs when someone calls asking what we will do with the animals during the wedding. No animals, no barn, no hay, no smells. Even our architect / builder calls it “more gallery than country”.

3. DOES THE BARN AT SHADY LANE FARM ALLOW OUTSIDE VENDORS FOR CATERING, BARTENDING, LINENS, DECOR, ETC?

We love the vendors who come to Shady Lane! From cake to flowers to food and musicians, they really help set the tone for the day. The only “have to” list among vendors is the catering and there, our extensive list is not at all restrictive. We currently have fourteen professional Birmingham catering companies on our list and we would stand by each of those as reputable, excellent in service and top of the list in presentation and food choices.

4. DOES THE BARN AT SHADY LANE PROVIDE A PREFERRED VENDOR LIST FOR BRIDES WHO NEED SOME HELP FINDING MORE VENDORS?

We are glad to recommend vendors we love in every category. Catering has to come from our master list which is on our web site.

5. WHAT MAKES THE BARN AT SHADY LANE UNIQUE?

The spirit of how things are done at Shady Lane is one true distinctive that brides and families continue to talk about long after their big day. We are BIG fans of marriage and just as it says in the book of Hebrews, we want to hold marriage in the highest esteem. With that spirit we serve with gladness and do our best to make every wedding a win.

6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASON FOR WEDDINGS AT THE BARN AT SHADY LANE?

Search on Instagram #shadylanewinterweddings or #shadylaneoutdoorceremony and you will see that there are few seasons that are not stunning at Shady Lane.

7. IF A BRIDE HAS CHOSEN TO DO AN OUTDOOR WEDDING AT THE VENUE, DOES THE BARN AT SHADY LANE HAVE A RAIN PLAN?

There is no such thing as Plan B at Shady Lane. Even if weather does not permit your outdoor wedding, our team can famously transform your indoor ceremony space from theater style to dining tables, linens and flowers in minutes. (Instagram search #shadylaneflip to see it!)

8. HOW MANY WEDDINGS DOES THE BARN AT SHADY LANE HOST PER YEAR?

We are consistently booked a year out on Saturdays and folks want to get married at Shady Lane so probably half of the year we have both Friday and Saturday weddings and a third of the year Friday, Saturday and Sunday weddings.

9. HOW MANY GUESTS CAN THE VENUE ACCOMMODATE TOTAL?

We tell our potential clients that we would probably recommend another venue if you know your guest list will be above 300.

10. DO YOU ALLOW REHEARSAL THE DAY BEFORE AT THE VENUE?

Every bride knows that there is a possibility of a rehearsal on their day for the bride coming up the next day. That bride and their bridal party typically arrive for a 9am rehearsal, they get only the aisle space to rehearse and then before an hour is up they are back off the property.

11. WHAT IS SOMETHING BRIDES SHOULD CONSIDER WHEN THEY TOUR THE VENUE FOR THEIR WEDDING?

Consider that there are gorgeous lodging options less than one mile away from Shady Lane if you exit going north or south. Four, six bedroom rental houses overlooking the golf course flank the entrance of the Oxmoor Valley Robert Trent Golf Course. And the Renaissance Ross Bridge Marriott is one mile the other direction.
