When Evie first reached out to me for her St Francis at the Point wedding, she and Noah weren’t even engaged yet! She has such a quiet, joyful spirit, and from our first phone call I could see that she valued both marriage, her relationship, and film photography. She told me that she could not find a photographer that had the style she wanted, so she was interested in paying for me to travel to Fairhope, AL to photograph her upcoming wedding.
Fast forward a few months, and Evie and Noah get engaged! It was time to make things official. After a few months of planning their classy summer wedding in Fairhope, AL – the bride’s hometown – I drove down to this quaint little town to photograph their big day.
Evie’s top priority was photography on her wedding day. She wanted things captured classically, beautifully, and in a way that portrayed the authenticity of their relationship. I am so excited to share with you these images from their wedding last June, and also some information about the details and venues they chose incase you, too, are planning a wedding in Fairhope, AL.
Evie chose a unique and sentimental approach to her wedding dress…she wore her mom’s wedding dress! Now, styles have changed since her mom got married, so Evie did a little customizing with a private seamstress to make her mom’s dress the wedding dress of her dreams. They brought up the waist, added lace to the bottom of the dress, added a lace detail to the bodice, and then added some classy and elegant puff sleeves (Anne – with an E – vibes?! Just me?).
To fit right in with the southern but simple theme, Evie chose fluffy white bouquets for her and her bridesmaids. She herself has a small, dainty bouquet that definitely gave me Meghan Markle vibes. I love how her choice of flowers elevate the entire look without taking over from the details of her dress.
This was by far one of my favorite church venues that I have ever been able to photograph at. Evie grew up coming to church here, so it held some significant meaning to her. Since I knew that she wanted her wedding photos to reflect the truth and beauty of the day, I was able to capture that so much more authentically for Evie and Noah since this venue is FULL of windows and natural light! The entire sanctuary was lined with windows, making everything bright and cozy.
Since Evie really loves film, I was able to capture a good bit of her ceremony moments on film. This can often be a problem with churches because most of the time they are dark inside, making it hard to get that true film look that everyone loves. With St. Francis at the Point, this was no issue. Here are some of my favorite moments from Evie and Noah’s beautiful ceremony at St. Francis at the Point.
Evie and Noah chose to not see each other before the ceremony, so afterward we took some portraits of the entire bridal party outside of the church. St. Francis at the Point is a wonderfully neutral colored church on the outside (and inside!), so it made for the most stunning backdrop for these photos!
Evie chose stunning satin dresses for her bridesmaids to wear for their summer wedding in Fairhope, AL. A hot summer day that it was, these short but classy dresses were perfect for the occasion. The groomsmen wore black suits…always a classic that can never go out of style.
Since Evie and Noah had not seen each other before the ceremony, this was the first time they were alone together on their wedding day. I always love to give the couple some space when they first see each other, whether that be during a first look or after the ceremony. This allows them to just take in the reality of their day together, and spend some time together without a bunch of people around.
We started by taking some portraits in front of the church, and then moved on to some other areas around the church for more portraits. I love how you can see their tender love for each other through these photos.
After the ceremony and portraits at St. Francis at the Point, we drove about 5 minutes way to Char 32 in Fairhope, AL. Evie chose some stunning details for their sit down reception dinner, including blue hydrangeas that really made everything come to life and pop. In addition, they had a classy checkered dance floor outside, complete with a live band, for first dances and fun partying after everyone had eaten dinner and had cake! This was definitely one of the most fun crowds to photograph!
